This paper expounds the purpose and necessity of period verification of the instrument and equipment and gives the legal basis. The substance of the period verification is a confirmation process of verification /calibration status of the instrument and equipment. This paper introduces the planning of period verification of environment monitoring institution, the scope and methods of the verification, the frequency and the use of results of the verification and the issues and matters needing attention during the verification.
