论《说岳全传》与佛教之因缘

The Karma between A Biography of Yue Fei and Buddhism

明清长篇章回体小说与佛、道二教的缘分相当深厚,几乎从开篇便沐浴在佛光、道风之中。作为英雄传奇小说的代表,《说岳全传》对佛教素材的吸收、改造主要包括三种方式:一是择取与佛教有关的素材进行生发、改编;二是借助历史或传说中的人物,编织与佛教有关的故事情节;三是从佛教观念或传说出发,衍生出人物或故事。正是这三种方式的巧妙运用,才得以形成全书"因果报应"的结构布局、"忠奸——出世"的双重性主题及"鹏——龙"型人物组合,并赋予小说浓厚的宗教色彩。

There is an intimate relationship between Buddhism and Taoism and long-chapter novels in Ming and Qing dynasties,for every novel has been radiant with the glamour of Buddhism and Taoism from the start to the end. As a representative of hero legendary novels,A Biography of Yue Fei has involved three patterns in its absorption and transformation of Buddhist materials: firstly,the production and adaptation of materials related to Buddhism; secondly,the making of story plots relevant to Buddhist story by means of characters in history or legends;thirdly,the development of characters or tales out of Buddhist concepts or legends. It is just the exquisite use of the three methods that A Biography of Yue Fei has been equipped with the structural layout of 'Karma',the dual theme of loyalty and betrayal as well as the combination of'the giant bird'and'the loong'in terms of charaeters,thus having endowed the novel with a strong religious overtone.
