This article puts its focus on the study of paradox in Robert Browning's poetry,and analyses the dramatic personae,Browning's conception of language and of philosophy.The poet advocates revolt against doctrines and outdated conventions via his dramatic personae,adopts silence as a means of counterattack on the hegemony of speaking,and offers a hologram as well as duality of life,which is a valid proof of the abundant dialect wisdom of the poet.It is the excellent command of paradox that distinguishes Browning from his romantic contemporaries and marks the innovation and breakthrough of Browning's poetic adventure.
