This paper is both a supplement to and a necessary revision of the author’s On The Origin of Chu(Part One),purporting the theory that“the Chu ethnic group originated from the natives of southern China in the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River”.In prehistoric times, the Chu people probably lived in the Minshan and Ruoshui regions of western Sichuan;in late pre-historic times, they migrated eastward, from Sichuan to Hubei;the patriarch of the Chu,the Jilian Tribe, had already settled down in Jingshan and its surrounding regions in Hubei during the Xia and Shang dynasties;and Danyang, the fi rst capital of the Chu State,is in the area from the present-day Yichang to the Juzhang River basin.
