唐李邕《麓山寺碑》

On the Lushan Temple Tablet by Li Yong of the Tang Dynasty

位于长沙河西岳麓山下岳麓书院的《麓山寺碑》,是唐代著名书法家李邕撰文并书写的。碑文叙述自晋泰始年间建寺至唐立碑时,麓山寺的沿革以及历代来此住持之名僧说法传经情况,并一一列举名僧及有关官员对该寺的贡献。辞章华丽,笔力雄健,刻艺精湛。因文、书、刻工艺兼美,故有'三绝碑'之称。书法雄健得势,可见其善运腕力,应为李邕生平之杰作,亦为不可多得之唐代名碑。

The prose on the Lushan Temple Tablet located inside the Yuelu Academy of Classic Learning at the foot of the Yuelu Mountains in Changsha was composed and handwritten by the famous Tang dynasty calligrapher Li Yong.It describes the changes that had taken place in the Lushan Temple and the abbots that taught Buddhist scriptures there from the time when the temple was built in the Taishi Reign of the Jin dynasty to the time when the tablet was erected in the Tang dynasty,with detailed citations of every renowned monk and offi cial who had made contributions to the temple.Because of the well-versed prose,the bold and forceful calligraphy and the superb feat of carving,this tablet is also known as“the tablet of three absolutes”.The masculine calligraphy,indicating skillful use of the wrist,should be one of the masterpieces of Li Yong.All in all,this is a rare and famous tablet of the Tang dynasty.
