A Study of the Butterfly Designs in Miao Ethnic Embroidery of Western Hunan

本文试论湘西苗族绣品中的蝴蝶纹样造型特征,从造型的交融叠加性、运用的广泛性、造型的多样性、整体图案中的非主体性及个体的完整性等五个方面阐释了苗族绣品的造型特色,并对形成此纹样特征的影响因素进行分类探讨,从而多方面、多角度了解湘西苗族绣品蝴蝶纹样的形成及发展,并希望以此抛砖引玉引发读者对湘西苗族文化更多的思考。

This paper discusses the characteristics of the butterfly designs in Miao ethnic embroidery of Western Hunan,illustrates the special features of such designs from the four aspects of the blend and overlap,the diversity,the non-subjectivity and the completeness of the shapes and forms,and explores the influencing factors of the formation of such designs by category.It thus offers a multi-aspect and multi-perspective view on the formation and development of the butterfly designs of the Miao ethnic embroidery in western Hunan in hopes of inspiring the readers to give more thoughts to the Miao ethnic culture in western Hunan.
