The ancient architectural complex of Zhang Guying Village of the Ming and Qing dynasties is located in the Weidong Basin surrounded by mountains.For hundreds of years,the Zhang clan lived here together and proliferated,becoming a fine example of the Han people living together as a clan.The reasons why they could live together for hundreds of years include such external and internal factors as the unique geographic environment and strict clan system.The“axis-and-branch style”of the buildings has provided the people with the psychological complex of living together while the self-sustaining economy has provided them with the necessary economic base for living together.
