The gold and silver tea vessels,exquisitely-made and of great variety, unearthed from the Tang dynasty tomb in Central South Industrial University at Taohualing have made it the Tang tomb with the largest number of artifacts in Hunan. The tomb also has yielded many representative bronze vessels of the late Tang dynasty, most of which are bronze mirrors. Two bronze mirrors--one with the design of Chao Fu and Xu You that has been wrongly believed to have first appeared in the Song dynasty, and the other with the unique design of constellations and eight trigrams–not only have high artistic values but also have provided new evidence for the periodization of bronze mirror designs and new ideas for our study of the development of bronze mirror designs in the late Tang dynasty and afterwards.
