The Animal-shaped Chimera in Chu Tombs

镇墓兽是楚墓中很有特色的一种随葬器物,学术界多有关注。但以往学者多把焦点放在对镇墓兽功能的讨论上,本文独辟蹊径从镇墓兽自身形象的演变过程出发,进而论证其镇墓护魄功能及相关问题。

The animal-shaped chimera is a kind of characteristic funerary object in Chu tombs,which has being concerned by the academia.Scholars tended to focus on the discussion of the function of the chimera in the past.However,in this article,the author starts from the view of the evolution process of the chimera's own image,and then argues the function of guarding the tomb,protecting the soul and some related issues.
