An Additional study on the Jingwei spear and related issues

本文对竞畏矛器主名的'畏'字进行了补释;对矛之时代作了补充讨论,认为从铭文字体及文例来看,当定在战国早期。指出其对楚王熊璋戈铭文的读序、铭末文字的拟补以及戈之年代的确定,都有重要的参考意义;对过去出土的同类器物的定名、厘清字书训释以及古书注解的疑义,也有重要的帮助;对正确理解以往战国兵器铭文中常见的'卒'或'萃'的训释,也有重要参考价值,因而有着重要的学术价值。

This paper identifies the character'wei(畏)' of the inscription on the Jingwei spear(竞畏矛).According to the inscriptions,we can confirm that the spear was made about the early period of the Warring States.Owing to the spear,we can intensively study other weapons such as Chuwang Xiongzhang dagger-axe(楚王熊璋戈)about the inscription,dynasty and so on.It also benefits to rename the weapons unearthed before,correct and make clear the annotation of the ancient historical documents,and accurately comprehend the interpretation of the inscriptions of Zu(卒)and Cui(萃)on the weapons of the Warring States period.From the above,the Jingwei spear has important academic value.
