There are many foxes and ghosts stories in Liao Zai Zhi Yi, which are the favorite topics for the reader, the reason for which may consist in the true love and bravery of these images giving people limitless imagination space. The reason for the author could create such peculiar aesthetical portraits is connected with the author’s imagination. The imagination of ghosts may be the highest level of ancient creation of souls. We need to enter the author’s inner mind. The successful creation consists not only in inspiration, insight and passion, but also in the struggling movement of the mind. The foxes and ghosts created by Pu Songlin were either passionate angels or tender ladies, which is the illustration of his creative and aesthetical manners.
