Special Aesthetic Values in Modern Art——Discussion on Ugly Forms and the Aesthetic Nature

丑在自然界和人类社会到处存在着。这些丑,在现代艺术中都是可以克服的。有的美学家认为,真正的不可克服的丑存在于赝牌美中。传统美学认为,丑是残缺,是畸形,是对生命力的扭曲和破坏,是恶的形象展现。现代美学认为,丑是非理性的感性显现,是一种强烈的不快的心理刺激,是带理性的生命感受,是一种特殊形态的审美价值。

Ugliness exists everywhere in the natural world and human society.These forms of ugliness can be overcome in modern art.Some estheticians believe that the real and insuperable ugliness exists in fake beauty.Traditional aesthetics regards ugliness as incomplete and abnormal which twists and destroys life force and is an exhibition of evil image.Modern aesthetics thinks that ugliness is an irrational manifestation,a strong and unpleasant psychological stress,a rational feeling of life as well as a special form of aesthetic values.
