Cultural Origin of Zangxiang Theory in Chinese Medicine

"藏象"即内在之藏与外应之象,藏象学说是以外应自然现象联系来构建内在脏腑功能系统的学说,具有形象性、功能性、系统性的特点。意象思维是藏象学说得以构建的文化根源,是中国传统文化最重要的一以贯之的思维方法,其形成源于《周易》。意象思维的特点就在于使无形变为有形,使无形之物呈现出形象性和易见性。意象思维广泛应用于《黄帝内经》,而《素问·六节藏象论》也已用意象思维的方法以五行生克理论构建五脏的功能系统。从中国传统文化来探求中医藏象学说得以构建的文化根源,为认识和诠释中医藏象学说提供了新的视野和路径。

' Zangxiang' is the phenomenon of internal hiding and external correspondence. The doctrine of zang-fu viscera function system should be constructed by linking natural phenomena with zang-fu viscera function system. It has the characteristics of visualization,functionality and systematicness. Imagery thinking is the cultural origin of the construction of Zangxiang theory and the most important and consistent way of thinking in Chinese traditional culture. Its formation originates from Zhouyi. The characteristic of imagery thinking is to make invisible into tangible,making intangible objects appear visual and easy to see. Imagery thinking is widely used in the Huangdi Neijing,and Su Wen·Liujie Zangxiang Theory has also used the method of imagery thinking to construct the functional system of the five zang with the theory of five elements. From the Chinese traditional culture to explore the cultural roots of the construction of TCM Zangxiang theory,it provides a new vision and path for understanding and interpreting TCM Zangxiang theory.
