The Role of SDWL in Social Governance during Early Period of New China

上海解放后,新政权面临着一系列严重的社会问题,如:妓女、舞女、各类妓院仍然大量存在,流氓、匪患、反革命分子猖獗,广大妇女就业困难等。为了巩固新政权,稳定社会秩序,上海市民主妇女联合会在中国共产党的领导下积极行动,为社会治理发挥了重要的作用。历史证明,市民主妇联是治愈社会沉疴旧疾的一支重要力量,是稳定社会秩序的基础因素之一,是中国共产党进行社会动员的重要帮手。

After Shanghai’s liberation,the new government was faced with a series of serious social problems such as rampant existence of prostitutes,taxi dancers,brothels,rascals,banditries and counterrevolutionaries and as well as women’s difficulty in employment.To strengthen the new government and stabilize the society,the SDWL(Shanghai Democratic Women League)led by the CPC played a vital role in social governance.History has proved that the SDWL is an important force in curing old social diseases,a fundamental social stabilizer and an important assistant of the CPC’s social mobilization.
