The Origin of New Year

新年是中华民族最隆重、最富有特色的传统节日。它源远流长,历史悠久,它的普遍性、隆重性及其所负载的文化内涵是其它任何节日所不能比拟的。笔者在文中就其构成、由来、风俗及其文化意义作了较详细的探讨。文中作者认为新年的由来是先人出于祭祀、庆祝丰收和制定历法的需要;它的构成有狭义和广义之分。伴随着其多采多姿的习俗,它所负载的文化意义主要有四海一家的归属感,天人合一的和谐性和人文精神的觉醒性。

New year,having a long history,is the most solemn and unique traditional festival of Chinese nation.Its universality,grandeur and cultural quality are incomparable with any other festivals.Probing into the constituents,origin,customs and cultural meaning of New Year in detail,the author holds that the origin of New Year meets our ancestor's needs of sacrifice,celebration and calendar formulation and that there are narrow and broad senses for New Year.With its colorful customs,the cultural meanings it carries mainly include the sense of cosmopolitan belonging,the harmony of nature and man,and the awakening of humanity.
