辛介夫先生论《说文》“转注”(一)

On Zhuanzhu in Shuo Wen by Mr. Xin Jiefu(Ⅰ)

详细地考察了六书的起源、名称、性质以及历代的有关论述,着重探讨了转注的性质、转注的名称及义例用字,认为转注属于造字方法,转注是由旧有的字孳乳新字的一种造字法则,就是延引(转)旧字的形、音、义移植到(注)新发生的语词上造成新字的一种方法。同时探讨了转注与部首、互训及假借、形声的区别,转注字的识别等理论与方法问题。

The paper describes in detail the origin, name and nature and the relevant statements in different dynasties of six categories. It focuses on the nature and the name of Zhuanzhu and the example of the word meaning. It concludes that Zhuanzhu is the method of a new word-formation,which is a new law of word creation that the new word is derived from the old. That is to transfer the old form, pronunciation, meaning to the new one. The paper also discusses about many of the theoretical and methodological problems such as the difference between Zhuanzhu and the radicals, the inter-explanation among words and the old word representing the new meaning,the formation and the sound, and the recognition of the word of Zhuanzhu.
