《释名》是声训的集大成之作。以往很长一段时间,往往以"穿凿附会"、"唯心主义"来评价它,且被视为作用不大之书。那么今天在人们对语言的认识有了突破性发展的基础上,在汉语词源学获得长足发展的背景下,很有必要站在语言学而不是语文学的立场上重新审视《释名》,深入发掘和充分认识它在语言学研究方面的独特价值,批判继承这份文化遗产,剔除其糟粕,吸收其精华,以服务于科学的语言学建构。

'Shi Ming'is an integration literature of Sheng Xun,which means to explain one word's prononciation with another one's prononciation.Days ago,people usually regard it as an eisegetical,idealistic and effectless book.Today,by the base that we have had a deep understanding of language and run a long distance of Chinese Language's Source Study,it's necessary to resurvey'Shi Ming'at the standpoint of Linguistics but Chinese Language Arts.in order to make it serve the scientific Chinese Language Arts' structure,We should study'Shi Ming'.
