A growing number of monasteries allow serious students to ascend to spiritual nirvana—even if only temporarilyDeep down,there are those of us who believe that,if we only lived without the modern scourges of globalization,urbanizationand social media,we might become enlightened students of Aristotle or Buddha.We would become one with our'true self,'and close to the ultimate truth of the universe.
