Naipaul's Miguel Street is the historical writing of colonialism in Trinidad of Caribbean area. The sadness and misfortune of the socially disadvantaged group are depicted in the novel. The paper discusses and analyzes the deep meaning of narrative discourse, the sound effect of direct speeches, the function of non-standard English, Calypso and the rhetoric methods in terms of narrative discourse. It is pointed out that the deepening theme lies in the skillful use of the narrative discourse in the novel.
