探多元系统理论与生态翻译学的结合应用——以林语堂《琵琶行》英译本为例

On the Combination of Polysystem Theory and Eco-translatology—Taking Pipa Xing as an Example

源于俄国形式主义的多元系统理论从宏观角度强调文化层面对翻译的制约作用,以"适应选择学说"为理论基础的生态翻译学凸显译者中心地位、选择性适应与适应性选择。二者从不同角度阐述翻译,但都无法单独解释整个翻译过程。该文以林语堂英译本《琵琶行》为例,探索两大理论在文学翻译中的结合应用。

Originated from Russian Formalism,polysystem theory stresses the restrictive role that culture plays in translation,while based on the theory of 'adaptation and selection',eco-translatology emphasizes translator centeredness,selective adaptations and adaptive selec tions.From two different perspectives,however,neither of the theories could illustrate the comprehensive process of translation.Taking Pi pa Xing translated by Lin Yutang as an example,this paper aims at exploring their combination in literature translation practice.
