Deeply influenced by the Greek and Roman myths, during the Renaissance, Shakespeare created many outstanding female char acters that have archetypes in myths. this paper intends to analyze Portia from the angle of myth archetypal criticism approach so as to high light the wisdom and heroic actions of women.
