George Eliot's The Mill on the Floss is among the greatest critical realism works in English literature. Research of most critics about her is concerned with religion, morality, psychology or feminism etc. While Eliot's description of nature scene as well as the relation ship between characters and environment are almost neglected by scholars. To seek a way to return pastoral life in the industrialized world as her view of nature will be discussed in this paper by analyzing the wilderness of Floss and the Red Deeps, Dorlcote Mill and the big flood.
