'There Is No V-ing Construction' originates from interaction between reality and embodiment and comes into being from cog nitive process and reflects the most basic cognitive strategies for the understanding of the world. it is a integrated hybrid existential construc tion involving multiple inheritance from existential and negative imperative constructions and the result of mental process based on visual dummy There and conveys durative negative imperativity objectively. Based on systematic study of the 1812 examples taken from British National Corpus, the paper studies the syntactic, semantic and pragmatic features of the construction with integrated theoretical framework CMC.
