Jane.Smiley is a modern famous writer who is good at describing ordinary life.In 1991,one thousand acres gained wide recog nition and won Pulitzer Prize for fiction and National Book Critics Circles Award.The novel is a story about a farm's up and down in Io wa.The novel is a contemporary retelling of Shakespeare's King Lear and is set on a thousand acre(four hundred hectares) farm in Iowa that is owned by a family of a father and his three daughters.It is told through the point of view of the oldest daughter,Ginny which expos es what female suffered during the agriculture development.It is told the game played among nature,male and female in order to inspire human not to break the ecological balance and recognize the check and balance among three factors,perform each other's rights and obli gations and create a more harmonious world.
