摘要
Introduced by Edward Hall in 1966,the term proxemics refers to the physical body space among people communicating with one another.From the intercultural perspective,a specific research into this domain is conducted in this thesis,which delves into the varia tion between Chinese and American interpersonal proximity.With two typical cases demonstrated and analyzed afterward,reasons occasion ing this Sino-US intercultural distinction are listed and further expounded,followed by an incidental mention of the different attitudes to ward space violation in China and in the United States.
