习语是一个民族在长期生活中积累形成的,反映了一个民族特有的文化特征。该文从英语习语与英语民族的历史变迁、生存环境、文化习俗、宗教信仰、神话传说等五个主要文化侧面的关系入手,探讨英语习语深刻的文化内涵,从而加强对学生文化意识的培养,进一步提升学生跨文化交际的能力。
Idioms,developed in daily life,can demonstrate the unique cultural characteristics of a nation.This essay aims to explore the cultural connotation implied by English idioms through their relationship with historical development,geographical environment,customs,religion,fables and myths to enhance students' cultural awareness and to improve students' cross-cultural communication ability.
