Heart of Darkness is a recognized classic of Joseph Conrad,which has been overwhelmingly studied and researched over the past centuries.In this novel,Conrad exposes the darkness of human soul by presenting a symbolic phenomenon:spiritual blindness in most characters.Thus,this paper attempts to account for the spiritual blindness of different groups of people from three aspects,including racial superiority,heroic worship and human desire.
