跨文化交际视角下的英汉习语翻译

语言与文化密不可分,紧密相连。作为语言精华的习语承载着无数超乎语言之外的文化信息。中英文化的不同使得英汉习语在表达上有很大差异。英汉习语各自所承载的浓厚的民族文化特色和文化信息给习语翻译制造了许多困难,成为跨文化交际的障碍。译者应该以跨文化交际为基点,深刻理解英汉习语文化内涵的差异,采用相应的翻译策略,以达到跨文化交际的顺畅进行。

Language is closely related to culture.Idioms are believed to the most culturally-loaded element in any language's vocabulary.Great differences between Britain and China in culture are embodied in both languages.Therefore,both Chinese and English idioms bear distinctive cultural elements,some of which are unique.These bring difficulties in translating them and hence cause barrier in intercultural communication.Studying on cultural connotations in both Chinese and English idioms seems to be of great significance.
