诗歌翻译中的忠实与创造——以“青青河畔草”译本为例

Fidelity and Creativity in Poetry Translation—Take“Green,green,the riverside grass”as an Example

围绕诗歌翻译中的忠实与创造问题,分析评价Arthur Waley,柳无忌,Burton Watson,Herbert A.Giles,许渊冲及Ezra Pound六位译者对"古诗十九首·青青河畔草"一诗的翻译,并在文章的最后提出自己的译文。指出诗歌翻译中忠实与创造并非一对矛盾。一方面,要实现诗歌音、形、义的全面忠实,必须依靠译者发挥创造性。而另一方面,创造也应以忠实为前提,译诗在内容和形式上都不应以超过原诗为目标。

In terms of fidelity and creativity in poetry translation,translations on'Nineteen Old Poems·Green Green the Riverside Grass'by Arthur Waley,Liu Wu-chi,Burton Watson,Herbert A.Giles,Xu Yuanchong and Ezra Pound are analyzed and evaluated.At the end of the essay,a new version is put forward.Fidelity and creativity is not a contradiction in poetry translation.On the one hand,to achieve fidelity in rhythm,form and meaning of a poem,the translators are required to be creative;on the other hand,creativity should be on the basis of fidelity and the translation version should not exceed the original poem in both content and style.
