From the perspective of the structure,there is an unusually outstanding feature of the novel,that is,Steinbeck success fully bolstered the strength of structure in the book through biblical allusions and symbolism,completing his grand epic work with the triple parts of the Exodus in mind.In the novel,the total thirty chapters can be divided into three sections:focus on the description of the fearful and brutalizing dust and drought in Oklahoma and the tenants'plight to find ways of survival;the tragic and intolerable westering-journey through the mountains,deserts and rivers;the narration of the life of the migrant farmers in California where they experience unspeakable pain and sufferings and meet with bitter resistance from the local people.
