高低语境文化与美国人的会话风格

High and Low Context Cultures and American Conversational Style

文化和交际是相互影响和相互制约的。语言是文化的载体,文化通过语言得以表征。该文运用霍尔的高低语境文化的理论,从文化背景对个人会话风格产生的影响出发,结合Tannen的会话风格理论,分析美国人的会话风格特点。文章认为,就美国情境喜剧生活大爆炸而言,其会话风格主要有四个特点:幽默,直接,自信和好争辩以及高介入。

Culture and communication interact with each other.Language is an indispensable carrier of culture.Culture finds a better representation through language use.This essay uses Hall's High-and Low-context culture theory and Tannen's conversational style theory to study American conversational style in the perspective that conversational style is affected by cultural background.Through the content analysis of American sitcom Big Bang Theory,the author summarizes the American conversational style in this sitcom as humorous,direct,high-involved,confident and argumentative.
