英汉委婉语对比及其语用翻译

Euphemism Comparison of Chinese and English and Pragmatic Translation Theory

委婉语是语言应用中不可或缺的重要部分,作为一种特殊的语言变形,存在于世界多个民族语言中。委婉语在翻译研究中也有重要的地位,但是目前常常出现的问题是委婉语的社交意义被忽略而导致翻译不够完美。它从委婉语的定义,应用范围方面探讨了英汉委婉语的异同点,并且介绍了语用翻译方法的定义及翻译策略,望能为委婉语翻译提供参考。

As an indispensible part of language use, euphemism plays an important role in all kinds of languages. Though a lot of efforts have been paid in the translation research on it, the common failure of excellent translation is due to the neglecting of eu?phemism’s social significance. The similarities as well as the differences of Chinese euphemism and English euphemism from the perspectives of definition and application have been presented in this article. Pragmatic translation theory has also been introduced here to help us have a better view of translation of euphemism.
