The Analysis of English Lexicogrammatical Ambiguity from the Perspective of Systemic Functional Grammar

Ambiguity is a universal phenomenon in all language. The efficient analysis of ambiguity can be helpful for both communication and foreign language learning. The analysis of lexicogrammatical ambiguity is explained from the functional approach. More specifically, it analyzes lexicogrammatical ambiguity within the framework of transitivity system. It indicates that Systemic Functional Grammar (SFG) can provide a new and effective model for analyzing lexicogrammatical ambiguity.
