On the Iconicity of Rhetoric in Novel Language—with Special Reference to The Last Leaf

象似性是认知语言学的一个重要内容,它揭示了人类普遍认知机制与语言内部结构之间的关系。而修辞是写作的一门艺术。该文将两者结合来分析小说《最后一片藤叶》的语言特色,根据该小说中的语言实例,来探讨文中部分修辞手段的象似性及其表达效果,说明象似性修辞手段有利于表达小说的主题思想。

@@@@Iconicity is an important content of cognitive linguistics. It reveals the relationship between the common human cogni?tive mechanism and the internal structure of a language, and the rhetoric is an art of writing. It attempts to analyze the language features of The Last Leaf in the light of iconicity and rhetoric, and with reference to some actual examples taken from the novel to discuss iconicity and the expressive effect of rhetoric. Thus, the rhetoric with the feature of iconicity facilitates the expression of the theme of the novel.
