Meaning Construction of Multimodal Metaphors in Political Cartoons—A Conceptual Blending Theory Perspective

近十多年来,国外对多模态隐喻的研究在Forceville等学者的推动下蓬勃发展,而在国内尚属起步阶段。以Fauconnier&Turner的概念整合理论为基础,文章探析两幅政治漫画中多模态隐喻意义的动态构建。概念整合理论对多模态隐喻意义的动态构建具有较好的阐释力,为多模态隐喻的理解提供了一个新视角。

The past two decades witnesses the fast development of multimodal metaphors abroad driven by Forceville and some other scholars;the theoretical framework,however,is mainly confined to Conceptual Metaphor Theory advanced by Lakoff & Johnson.Conceptual Blending Theory proposed by Fauconnier & Turner,is used to explain the dynamic meaning construction of multimodal metaphors in two political cartoons,providing a new perspective to the interpretation of multimodal metaphors.
