The paper combines macroscopical study with microscopical study. By reviewing Lin Yu-tang’s intended selection of Six Chapters of a Floating Life, through the intensive reading of his English translation, and his translation strategies of culture-loaded dictions in it, the paper expatiates Lin’s insight into four fields-aesthetic subject, object, product and principle in his translation from the perspective of aesthetics, and reveals his enlightening contribution to translation theory construction.
