浅析英汉互译中的不可译性及其应对策略

On Untranslatability in Translation between Chinese and English with Corresponding Translation Strategies

由于不同的语言和文化都有其一定的特殊性和差异性,翻译中便不可避免地存在不可译的现象。根据英国语言学家、翻译学家卡特福德在其著作《翻译的语言学理论》中对不可译性的分类,主要从语言上的不可译性和文化上的不可译性两方面来分析英汉互译中的不可译现象,并针对不可译性提出了实用的翻译应对策略。以期加深翻译学习者和英语爱好者对不可译性的理解和认识,帮助其掌握翻译策略,从而提高其翻译能力和水平。

Each language and culture has its own uniqueness and difference, thus contributing to untranslatability in translation. Based on the classifications of untranslatability made by English linguist and translator J.C. Catford, author of A Linguistic Theory of Translation, it has made the analysis of untranslatability from the two perspectives: linguistic untranslatability and cultural un?translatability, and then has proposed some practical translation strategies accordingly. It is hoped that this paper could enhance English learners’and enthusiasts’understanding of untranslatability, help them master some useful translation strategies and thus improve their translation ability and proficiency.
