A Brief Analysis of Grammatical Metaphor in Obama's Inaugural Address

美国总统的就职演说是重要而独特的政治语篇。在演说时,总统们会巧妙运用一些语言策略来实现他们的政治意图。文章以韩礼德提出的语法隐喻为理论基础,以奥巴马总统的就职演说为文本,试着分析语法隐喻在此语篇中的应用以及其起到的预期语言效果,以期更好的解读此语篇的深层内涵。

The inaugural addresses of American president are very important and unique political discourses.Presidents will employ some tactful language skills to realize their political intentions in the speech.Based on the concept of grammatical metaphors proposed by Halliday,this paper tries to analyze the president Obama's inauguration speech to find out the frequency of the use of grammatical metaphors and the anticipative effect achieved in the public.
