公示语是一个城市重要的对外窗口,公示语翻译的质量对于城市形象至关重要。近年来,虽然各主要城市都在致力于汉英双语公示语的建设工作,但据调查显示,我国大多数城市的公示语汉英翻译依然问题百出,亟待解决。为了避免城市公示语的错误翻译,译者除了必须掌握相关的语言文化知识之外,还必须遵循基本的翻译原则,这是确保城市公示语译文正确性和得体性的首要条件。

Public sign is an important window of a city. The quality of public signs translation is of great significance for the im age of a city. In recent years, the major cities are committed to the construction of the C-E public signs but translation errors of public signs still abound in most of cities in our country according to the survey. In order to avoid them, translators firstly must grasp the translation principles except for the related knowledge about language and culture.
