Some critics think Pearl is not the main character in this novel, while others believe Pearl is a subordinate image.Few scholars think Pearl is also a major character and she serves as an indispensable character in this story. Through the thorough analysis of Pearl's personalities and her relationship between three other main characters, all the detailed evidences prove that Pearl is indispensable in terms of structure and plot.
