Heroic tragedy is often manifested in political, class and national struggle. It can stimulate the audience's pity and fear through the sufferings and deeds of the tragic hero. This thesis studies the contradiction between Milton the Puritan and Milton the Humanist, aiming at exploring his tragic spirit based on his experiences and great works.
