摘要
Being a part of language and a common linguistic phenomenon, euphemism is widely used in daily life. As it can conceal the offensiveness and unpleasantness caused by sensitive topics, each speech community and each society has their own euphemism of various kinds. This poses a great challenge for translators in their practice. The study of euphemism translation has aroused many interests and brought about some insightful opinions. This essay analyzes euphemism translation in the light of Skopos theory and attempts to find some workable principles to help translators to deal with the difficulties.
