原声影视英语对白语块研究——基于自建《英语电影剧本对白语料库》的实证性研究

A Study in Chunks of Original Film Dialogues—A Positivism Research Based on the Self-build English Screenplay Corpus

研究从自建的《英语电影剧本对白语料库》中提取了4-词对白语块279个,对这些对白语块进行了结构层面和功能层面的分类分析。结果显示:对白语块在结构层面上,动词类语块最多,Wh-问句类语块和Yes-No问句类语块次之,名词类语块和介词类语块更次之,掌握这五类语块,就相当于掌握语块总数的96.1%;在功能层面上,立场类语块最多,主要由动词类语块构成,会话专用类语块次之,主要由动词类语块和形容词+to do类语块构成,立场类语块会话专用类语块在对白语块中大致是指称类语块语篇组织类语块的三倍。这些结论可以在一定程度上加深对真实语境下英语口语的理解和运用,有效服务口语教学和广泛应用在口语培训机构中。

In this study, we extract 279 4-words chunks, and classified and analyzed them on both structural side and functional side. We found that on the structural side,verb-oriented chunks are biggest in number, with Wh-questions taking the second place, Yes-No questions the third, and the numbers of noun-oriented chunks and preposition-oriented chunks are even smaller, which means if we master these five kinds of chunks, we master 96.1%of all the chunks. On the functional side, stance expres-sions are biggest in number, most of which are verb-oriented chunks;special conversational functions take the second place, the vast majority of which are verb-oriented chunks and adjective+to do chunks;stance expressions and special conversational func-tions are three times the number of referential expressions and discourse organizers in original film dialogues. These conclusions can deepen our understanding and use of English in actual contexts. We can use them widely and well in oral English education and oral English training organizations.
