中西文化中动物的文化内涵及翻译方法——以龙、凤、蛇为例

The Culture Connotations and Translation Methods of Animal Terms in the Chinese and Western Cultures——Taking Dragon,Phoenix and Snake as Examples

语言是文化的载体,每种语言的背后蕴涵着独有的文化内涵。动物词汇也不例外。同一种动物在不同的语言中有各自的拼写形式,而在语言背后则是文化内涵的差异。文章选取具有代表性的龙、凤、蛇为例子,探讨同一种动物在中西文化中不同的文化内涵,以及在翻译的同时如何跨越文化障碍,在彼德·纽马克的语义翻译理论的基础上,提出相应的具体的翻译方法,辅以例子加以佐证。

As a cultural carrier,each language has an unique cultural background.The animal terms are no exception.In different languages,the same kind animal is transliterated into different forms.However,the difference is resulted in the cultural connotation.The paper takes the animal terms of dragon,phoenix and sneak as examples to explore the different cultural connotation in China and west world.The paper discusses the translation method overcome the cultural barrier.Guided by the semantic translation put forward by Peter Newmark,the paper propose translation methods,which are supported by examples.
