Text world theory has been influenced by philosophy, cognitive psychology and cognitive linguistics. It is a new branch of the cognitive poetics. The theory has been applied to different kinds of discourses and explore the mental representa-tion in Tang-dynasty poetry according to the three world layers. Applying the theory to Tang-dynasty poetry, the readers can track how poet constructs the poetry and how the readers interpret it.
