Testing is one of the most important processes in language teaching. It is an essential way to measure the teaching qual-ity and improve the teaching quality. The author elaborates four development periods of testing theory and states the significant relationship between language testing theory development and foreign language teaching, and draws conclusions on the implica-tions of language testing theory for foreign language teaching.
