摘要
After an exploration of the history of College English teaching reform, the paper finds out that the upcoming years will probably usher in another decade of reform characterized by ESP. However, there still exist some misconceptions about the terms of English teaching and learning, and it finds that the controversies or confusions concerning some concepts like GE or EGP(English for General Purposes), Esp(English for Special Purposes) or ESP(English for Specific Purposes) should be clarified while moving toward ESP in College English.
