摘要
医学英语词汇是医学英语学习的基础,也是区别于普通英语的真正所在。然而词汇往往是医学英语学习的瓶颈和障碍。医学英语词汇具有如下特点:(1)一些普通英语词汇含有特定医学含义;(2)由大量的希腊、拉丁语的词缀构成;(3)存在大量缩略语;(4)部分词汇具有历史文化背景;(5)部分词汇存在一词多式的同义现象。拟从词源学(etymology)的角度出发,在分析医学英语词汇特点的基础上,着重探讨医学英语词汇教学的有效方法。
Medical English vocabulary is the foundation of medical English study. However, medical English vocabulary is often the bottlenecks and barriers of medical English learning. Medical English vocabulary has the following characteristics: ( 1) some common English words contain certain medical meanings; (2) most consist of lots of Greek, Latin affixes; (3) abbreviations are common (4) some words have historical and cultural background;(5) Some words have more than one expressions because of dif-ferent derivations. Effective teaching methods of medical English vocabulary is explored from the perspective of etymology.
