How to Remedy the Cultural Differences in English and Chinese in Interpretation

各民族文化之间的差异比语言结构之间的差异给英语口译者带来的困扰更多、更复杂。英语和汉语是建立在不同文化基础上的两种语言,文化差异将会给英语口译带来一定的影响。因此口译译员只有了解英、汉两种语言风格的异同和不同的民族心理状态,处理好在口译中出现的不同文化背景知识,才能起到桥梁的作用。

For English-Chinese interpreters, the cultural difference is more difficult than the structural difference. English and Chinese are two different languages basing on different cultures which make interpretation more difficult. So the interpreters should understand the difference between the two languages and the different national psychology and deal well with the cultural background difference. Only in this way can the interpreters build a communication bridge between east and west.
