Translation is not only just about the switch of language codes, but also it's about the transfer of the discourse context.During the translation process, the effects of context change should be taken into consideration. This article mainly deals with the impact and effect of discourse context on translation through the analysis of a famous Chinese ancient home letter of Zheng Banqiao from the perspectives of contextual hierarchy theory in functional linguistic.
